As a Consultant or Senior Claims Representative, you are at the front lines for our customer. Your primary role is to investigate and manage claim files to help individuals and businesses prevail after a claim.

The Hartford will provide you with paid training, as well as ongoing coaching and development to ensure your success. Depending on experience can hire as a Senior Claims Representative or Consultant.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

Plan, recommend, and execute the investigation and disposition of claims consistent with corporate claim standards policies and procedures, and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements.

Manage caseload / claims within established performance standards.

Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, gaining their trust and respect.

Be responsible for successfully managing complex and litigated personal and commercial auto claims.

Fully engage your exceptional verbal and numerical critical thinking skills; gather information, apply reasoning, and draw appropriate conclusions to make sound decisions.

Plan, recommend, reserve, and execute the investigation, valuation, disposition, and settlement of claims for the jurisdictions in the eastern part of the United States.

Achieve fair, equitable and timely claim dispositions.

Properly assess the indemnity, medical and expense exposure of assigned claims.

Set reserves accurately and in a timely manner.

Accurately resolve coverage and compensability issues.

Plan, organize and establish priorities, determine realistic completion dates.

Develop technical and jurisdictional expertise.

Maintain current knowledge of claim loss cost containment initiatives and use them appropriately and consistently with company practices and procedures.

Identify and initiate mitigation, subrogation, and other recovery opportunities on assigned claims.

Identify fraud indicators and initiate investigation on assigned claims.

Apply general mathematical knowledge or financial analysis to achieve results.

Support and demonstrate The Hartford behaviors and The Hartford Way management system.

Certification exams and adjusting licenses as required by state with a focus on Eastern United States.

QUALIFICATIONS :

3+ years of experience in Auto, Bodily Injury or General Liability insurance claim handling experience preferred.

Personal and Commercial Claims Handling preferred.

Outstanding interpersonal skills.

Strong focus delivering outstanding customer service.

Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated consistent high level of performance and achievement over career span.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Licensing Requirements : As a condition of your employment, you must obtain and maintain a State Adjuster's License to process Property & Casualty Insurance Claims in the states supported by your office.

Continued employment with The Hartford is contingent upon the successful passage of the Licensing exam(s) within 30 business days from the completion of the licensing training.

This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations (Hartford, CT, San Antonio, TX, Lake Mary, FL, Phoenix, AZ, Naperville, IL) will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Travel Requirements : Travel as required to attend mediations, arbitrations, court conference and trials and business-related meetings.

All travel expenses and arrangements are paid for by The Hartford.

• For full-time, occasional, part-time or remote positions : (1) high speed broadband internet service is required, we do not recommend or support DSL, wireless, Mifi, Hotspots, Fiber without a modem and Satellite;
• 2) Internet provider supplied modem / router / gateway is hardwired to the Hartford issued computer with an ethernet cable;

and (3) minimum upload / download speeds of 5Mbps / 30Mbps will be required. To confirm whether your Internet system has sufficient speeds, please visit your personal computer.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role.

The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.

The annualized base pay range for this role is :

61,600 - 120,120

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
