Job Description

This position supports the work of The Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

The YMCA focuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods.

If hired, you will lead program operations including, but not limited to, membership, aquatics, youth sports, and school age care.

This position provides leadership to Y team members, creates meaningful high-quality experiences, and ensures successful daily operations of the association.

Qualifications

Previous leadership experience at a YMCA or similar non-profit organization strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferred).
  • Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency, with experience in volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development (preferred).
  • Knowledge and working understanding of all program areas.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Success leading teams and individuals
  • Facility management experience
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to create a customer focus culture
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification (preferred)

Essential Functions

  • Lead the planning, growth, and operations of the association and its programs and assume responsibility with the Program Directors for the programs’ overall success.
  • Support, articulate, and demonstrate the mission, values, vision, and goals of the YMCA to employees, members, and the community.
  • Serve as an external ambassador of the association, developing and maintaining strong community relationships to develop a large and active membership, support the community’s growth, and identify and engage key community leaders.
  • Lead efforts to increase member engagement to ensure that a high-performance, member-centric culture of service is in place;

ensure employees are fully on-boarded and engaged to serve the members / participants and meet or exceed growth and retention goals.

  • Develop, implement, and manage an annual operating plan to promote innovation, excellence, and program growth.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff; identify individual and team objectives; coach and evaluate individual performance.
  • Develop and oversee program budgets so that resources are devoted to top priorities and strategic objectives; ensure revenue production and growth to maintain a balanced budget.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of facilities and equipment to the highest level of safety and efficiency.
  • Support the Y’s philanthropic goals by developing and cultivating donor / alumni relationships. With support from the Y’s fundraising staff, oversee the annual campaign to achieve steady growth.
  • Direct Program Responsibilities- Responsible for variety of youth sports activities, including basketball, karate and more.
