SUMMARY

Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching for an Adjunct faculty to teach music technology courses.

This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover the Audio Engineering Department Student Learning Objectives for the specific course(s) taught.
  • Use teaching methods that emphasize application, cooperation and collaboration and engage students actively in their studies, encouraging them to become independent learners with higher-order thinking skills.
  • Organize and explain content using methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experience.
  • Assign and provide feedback for in- and out-of-class work, monitor student progress.
  • Perform adequate assessment and analysis of assessment according to college requirements.
  • Reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with, and ability to teach computer literacy and skills as they relate to music creation and audio production.
  • Experience with, and ability to teach DAW based music production.
  • Experience with, and ability to teach small format analog mixers and signal flow.
  • Ability to teach audio theory.
  • Ability to coach students through MIDI and in-the-box projects.
  • Ability to teach the following software : Cubase, Logic, Finale.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to arrive on time and be ready to teach course(s) during scheduled times.
  • Ability to prepare curricular materials to convey learning objectives to students.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Blackboard for posting assignments, assessing students, performances, and grading.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems independently.
  • Ability to be organized and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in audio engineering, music technology, music composition or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in music technology, audio engineering, music composition or a related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of professional experience in DAW based music production.
  • Experience with large-format analog mixers and hardware-based recording and mixing systems.
  • Experience with music notation software.
  • Experience with large-format analog mixers and hardware-based recording and mixing systems.
  • Teaching experience with a diverse population.
  • Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
  • Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.

WORK SCHEDULE

Must be able to work a variable schedule / hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours. Your appointment is contingent on sufficient enrollments, or on program and scheduling changes.
