Departmental Overview

The Department of Neuroscience will advance the understanding of brain, mind, and behavior through research, education and training.

Our faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and postdoctoral researchers study how the brain functions in health and disease, how it generates behavior and thought, and how it computes.

We investigate the nervous system on levels ranging from molecules and cells, to neural circuits and systems, to behavior and cognition, to neural computation.

We also develop neurotechnology and explore the impacts of neuroscience on society.

The Wallis Lab specializes in high-channel count recordings of electrical activity from multiple individual neurons throughout the frontal cortex and determines the information encoded by those neurons.

Our research uses techniques derived from the brain-machine interface literature, such as real-time decoding and closed-loop microstimulation, with the goal of developing novel treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders that involve impaired decision-making including addiction, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and schizophrenia.

The primary responsibilities for this position include assistance with neurophysiological recording.
