Job Summary
Develops exercise prescription and oversees exercise progression in various populations including special populations. Job Responsibilities
- Assists with organization of special programs in the fitness areas for member population.
- Responsible for the day-to-day and long-term implementation of fitness programming.
- Presents special programs, events, and classes at the Healthpark, in the community, schools, and for business industry as needed.
- Shift Supervisor duties may be assumed in the absence of Manager on Duty, acting as point person for medical emergencies, opening / closing, minor problems, and member concerns;
contacts Manager on Duty when situation warrants.
- Performs fitness testing and exercise prescription based on the needs and goals of each client.
- When working with physician-referred clients, assesses and prescribes appropriate exercise, coaches and tracks progress and follows up with the member and the physician.
- May be responsible for documenting and entering charges in an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Greets members and potential members with a smile and makes themselves available to help meet their needs, answer their questions, and make them feel important.
- Provides patient testing before and after rehabilitation including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.
- Provides exercise prescription for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen; updates exercise prescription according to patient response.
Implements concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.
- Recognizes contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
- Responds appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
- Provides exercise information for patients, peers, and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
- Maintains the cleanliness of the equipment and fitness areas on a daily basis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Athletic Training required upon hire OR
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Exercise Physiology required upon hire OR
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Exercise Science required upon hire OR
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Health Education required upon hire OR
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Physical Education required upon hire OR
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Sports Medicine required upon hire
- No experience required
- BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position AND
Skills and Attributes
