Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs with minimal supervision administrative tasks for lawyers and other timekeepers requiring specialized knowledge of a practice area and an understanding of procedures.
  • Assists with the filing of pleadings, including e-filings in State and Federal Courts.
  • Coordinates schedules, organizes meetings and handles travel arrangements as directed by lawyers and timekeepers.
  • Provide other administrative duties such as processing expense reports and check requisitions and opening and closing completed files.
  • Collaborates with resources inside and outside the firm as appropriate to complete projects and tasks.
  • Assists in the coordination of client billing using sophisticated software and procedures that may require client specific instructions.
  • Performs organizational tasks including paper and electronic files utilizing sophisticated software and detailed, precise procedures.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of department objectives, key activities and requirements in order to anticipate and proactively address the needs of the team.
  • Serve as a knowledge resource in specific practice group requirements and firm policies and procedures. Collaboratively share this knowledge and work with others to improve processes and procedures.
  • May bill time as deemed appropriate by supervising lawyer.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Willingness and ability to accept changing assignments and priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling matters for clients and other personal attorney information.
  • Demonstrates strong technical knowledge, skills and abilities of specific practice area(s), including significant Federal and State litigation experience and in-depth knowledge of local rules of court.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with minimal supervision exercising good judgment and decision making.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate ideas or positions in a professional manner promoting teamwork and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent and efficient workflow processes.
  • Identify and respond to internal and external client inquiries in a timely manner and seek feedback / follow-up as appropriate.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide high-quality service and partner effectively with diverse groups of people at various levels within the firm as well as external contacts.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently in a hybrid, and in-office setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills as well as the ability to produce a high volume of documents with tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates a desire to learn and grow and to actively seek continuous improvement in processes and procedures.

Education And / or Experience

  • Any combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Legal or other professional services firm management experience preferred.
