Pioneer (pioneercleveland.com), is a camping-themed restaurant in the heart of Ohio City. Pioneer’s expansive dining room is built around 13 TVs, so you never have to miss a game.
Our show-stopping hearth celebrates the oldest method of cooking known to man : live-fire. Outside, guests can grab drinks from our custom airstream bar and enjoy their meal on the expansive patio, while enjoying their favorite teams on our outdoor TVs.

Pioneer is currently open six days a week with busy brunch service on the weekends.
The responsibilities of the Food runner and busser :
Maintaining the flow of orders from waiters to the kitchen to diners, ensuring orders are completed quickly and correctly, assisting with the finishing touches on dishes, and conducting quality control on each dish.
This is a dual function running food and bussing tables.
Essential Functions
- Ensuring communication in the kitchen by calling out orders, getting the status on dishes, and calling the waitstaff to serve completed dishes.
- Informing the waitstaff when certain dishes or ingredients have run out and passing food requests from the waitstaff to the kitchen.
- Monitoring the food portions on completed dishes according to restaurant standards.
- Ensuring that all orders are completed in time and with the correct priority.
- Inspecting the cleanliness, presentation, and temperature of completed dishes.
- Performing the finishing touches to completed dishes, such as adding garnishes and removing smudges.
- Keeping the cooking, storage, and prep areas clean, neat, and well-stocked.
- Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety standards.
- Assisting all staff as needed.
- Handling customer complaints on behalf of the kitchen staff and looking for solutions.
- Clearing and clearing dishes from tables
- Cleaning and resetting tables
- Closing sidework
Requirements
- Good understanding of restaurant health and safety regulations.
- Food handling certification may be required.
- Relevant restaurant experience may be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Strong attention to detail, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
- Great customer service skills.
- Ability to handle a high-pressure, fast-paced, and stressful environment.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods, assist where needed, and carry heavy trays.
Education & Experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Outstanding communication and people skills.
- Problem solver and analytical thinker : works constructively to solve problems and learn from mistakes, anticipates the needs of personnel and guests, sees around corners - works proactively to prevent issues from arising;
exercises common sense and good judgment.
- Maintains composure under pressure, remains calm and courteous in difficult situations.
- Willingness to learn and accommodate industry changes and company directives.
- Required to work nights, weekends, and / or holidays as business demands; ability to work flexible hours as required.
Work Environment Work is performed in a restaurant environment. This role requires frequent standing and walking during the entire shift.
The work environment is fast-paced, and team members must be able to manage multiple priorities throughout a shift. Exposure to cold and heat may occur on a regular basis throughout a shift (entering refrigeration equipment, multiple industrial / food service, and exposure to cooking appliances).
