Transportation Construction Inspector - Chester Bridge Project

We are looking for a Transportation Construction Inspector to join our team.

Terracon is providing QA and QC inspection and testing services on the Chester Bridge. The Chester Bridge will be a new $300M suspension bridge over the Mississippi river located just an hour and a half south of St.

Louis, near Chester, Illinois. The project site will be located in Perryville, MO. If you are interested in relocating for this long-term project, a relocation package and sign-on bonus will be provided for selected candidates.

General Responsibilities :

The Transportation Construction Inspector will perform quality control inspections on large, complex and diverse transportation projects requiring expertise and knowledge in multiple areas of construction inspection and oversee the work of other testing and inspection personnel.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities :

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures to determine if work is done according to contract specifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Prepare inspection reports and document nonconformance.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the Project Manager.
• May interact with client and other site personnel to provide input on appropriate resolution of findings.
• Maintains equipment operation and calibration.
• Performs advanced fieldwork and assists with project management.
• Follow safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects. Performs pre-task planning prior to executing work.

Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Requirements :

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience as a Horizontal Construction Inspector and / or other applicable experience.
• Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• Highway Bridge transportation construction experience required.
• We encourage candidates with formal education and practical experience to apply. While a High School Diploma is the minimum educational requirement, candidates with higher education qualifications in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology is a bonus.
• Candidates with appropriate levels of experience in construction inspection, particularly on Highway Bridge transportation construction projects, will also be considered for the position or is a bonus.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
• The ability to achieve certifications required to perform construction inspection and testing on MoDOT projects.

Required Certification :

Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
