Job Description :
The purpose of this job description is to outline the roles and responsibilities for a Valhalla Engineering Group (Valhalla) Project Manager (PM) working in the medical architecture and engineering industry, and / or covering other facility design and investigative study assignments in the future, including the management of assigned professional and technical personnel, to develop construction documents and / or complete a technical investigative study.
Facility designs will be performed with cross-functional, multidisciplined teams, tailored to assigned project(s) Statement of Work (SOW) and managed from conceptual to final design level with construction documents as typical end item deliverables.
Design teams may include architects, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and civil engineers, plus consultants or subcontractors supporting specialty engineering requirements, as required, to produce new construction, alteration, maintenance and / or repair project designs.
Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) within these disciplines help the PM with technical direction and recommendations.
From the start of contractual negotiations the PM will assist in developing the price proposal, letter of assumptions, the design schedule, project work plan.
The Project Manager will manage all professional and technical personnel, as assigned to the design team, to produce a set of project deliverables that comply with agency design guidance, regulations and national / industry codes.
The Project Manager is to report to their direct supervisor all project issues in a timely manner. Knowledge of the entire building design and construction process is important to performing the duties of a Project Manager in delivering a complete and usable facility design that is : delivered on-time;
technically accurate; executable; and delivered at or under budget.
Major Duties :
- Follow and adhere to the Project Management Guide.
- Serve as the primary interface and support main communications with the client from initial project efforts throughout the entire lifecycle ending with the post project close-out stage.
- Monitor and report to Leadership and Direct Supervisor on the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project.
- Facilitate the project utilizing a team of technical professionals / SMEs via the appropriate chains of command (e.g. Department Heads)
- Manage all the project stages utilizing these key elements :
- Communications Management managing client relationships, communications across all stakeholders (both internal & external).
Document client interaction; in charge of setting up & running project team meetings; document the meeting minutes; monthly reports.
Scope / Expectations Management manage the clients’ expectations and help ensure Valhalla executes and performs per the contract document, vs.
what the client may want (but not covered per contract). Apply diligent efforts to protect Valhalla company interests by adhering to delivery of contractual requirements while avoiding scope creep and expansion of client expectations.
- Time Management and Schedule On-time delivery of all deadlines, including internal ones such as Quality Checks.
- Cost Management Project budget(s), including time / hours + costs (i.e. actuals vs. budgeted) and subcontracts.
- Quality Management Participate in and facilitate implementation of Valhalla Quality Management Program.
- Risk Management Anticipate / identify and plan for project risks risks might include responses to technical questions & / or change orders - and communicate them to Leadership in a timely manner.
- Subcontract Management Lead the development of request for proposals for subconsultants and pricing negotiations.
- Prime Contract Management Assist in the project implementation phase including initial SOW / RFP review, project schedule, Project Work Plan, project team assignments, & collaboration / integration across all technical department heads and Overhead groups of stakeholders to lead the project initial set up.

The candidate must have proficiency and knowledge in computer design software programs including : AutoCAD; Revit; Bluebeam Revu ;
MS Office Suite (including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project) and other various design and project scheduling software.
