Job Description

Summary

• Under the direction of the leadership team in the Quality Department, monitor quality, technical and process activities in the Ingot Melt Shop and ancillary processes;
• review operating and test data; dispose processing non-conformances; evaluate ingot chemistry; ensure compliance with customer purchase orders requirements;

prescribe continuous improvement programs.

Essential Functions

• Review and comment on customer and industry specifications based on plant capabilities.
• Review heat records for accuracy / compliance, including melt chart interpretation.
• Review chemistry results and recommend formulation improvements / adjustments
• Conduct internal audits as assigned, including hazard review assessments
• Provide technical assistance for the development or modification of formulation standards, melt profiles, standard process outlines, grade standards, variances, etc.
• Create / revise standard operating procedures, raw material specifications, as necessary.

Review statistical data and make recommendations for improvements.

• Prepare statistical reports for customer submittals
• Other duties as assigned.

Competencies

Quality assurance / engineering principles, metallurgical or material science engineering, SPC, general plant safety, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.

g., Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education and Experience

Enrolled in a four-year degree program in either of the following engineering areas : Metallurgical / Materials Science Engineering or Quality.

Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
