Pay Range Information
Chapman University is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. This range takes into account a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
Salary offers are determined based on the final candidate's qualifications and experience, as well as internal equity and other internal factors.
The anticipated pay range is not a promise of a particular wage.
Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
Responsible for the oversight of all recreation, intramural, club sports activities. Oversees the students, staff, and daily operations of all recreation facilities.
Responds to inquiries regarding programs, supervision, and budgets. Assist Sports Information Director with in-game statistics and press box / table management during home sporting events, as well as media relations responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Oversight of Recreation, club sports, intramural activities, and facilities.
Consider facilities usage and requests to assess best availability and schedule for students. Work with students to implement, coordinate and supervise programs for all recreation.
- Administrative duties - recruit, supervise, motivate, and retain student workers per assigned sport. Supervise recreation and intramural activities and events.
- Game management - assisting Sports Information Director with in game statistics and press box / table management during home sporting events, including oversight of student workers.
- Media Relations - regular communications with public and media, regarding Chapman Athletics; writing press releases, social media.

- Website maintenance - management of Chapman Athletics office : website, including pages for recreation, intramurals, and club sport1 programs.
- Understand university policies, insurance coverage, and liability issue1 for recreation programs. Ensure compliance with NCAA Division III regulations.
CPR / First Aid and emergency response.
Perform other duties including but not limited to, teaching classes, and providing CPR / First Aid and emergency response.
Responsible for collaborating with university units to foster athletic, academic, emotional, physical, and social growth.
Working with financial aid, medical services, academic support, judicial affairs, psychological services, student-athletes services, international programs, and compliance.
Mandatory Campus Security Authority and Title IX Mandatory Reporters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Current Emergency Cardiac Care Certification
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III and SCIAC compliance rules
- Ability to interpret and apply university and athletic department rules and policies
- Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills
- Strong commitment to teamwork and customer service
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Previous experience with graphic design and desktop publishing (Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office)
- Previous experience with in-game statistical software, including The Automated Scorebook and NCAA Livestats
- Experience with video editing a plus
