JOB SUMMARY :

This role coordinates the various non-academic aspects of the Post ADP student experience. The Director is responsible for responding to questions, concerns, and complaints promptly and appropriately, proactively anticipating the needs of students, and planning events and webinars to meet those needs.

Holding students accountable to the policies in the Student Handbook will be necessary to ensure an equitable and positive experience for all students.

The Director will employ a student-first attitude and work ethic in undertaking the tasks needed for student success. Notably, the Director will collaborate with various departments across the university to provide quality, seamless services throughout the student journey.

The Director acts as a role model for Post’s non-negotiable behaviors in all interactions with colleagues, students, applicants, vendors, or other business associates.

Additionally, they will prioritize and champion diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

This is a hybrid p osition some in-person activities on Post University’s campus in Waterbury, CT may be required, but most work functions may be virtual.

The position reports to the Dean of Students.

Post University offers the option to work remotely for some days in this position. When working from home, candidates must plug their equipment into their home router (a 50-foot ethernet cable will be provided by Post).

No wireless connections are supported. The home internet minimum requirements are a 25 Mb download speed and a 15 Mb upload speed.

The upload speed is essential for a consistent audio connection for the phone system. ( Please use the link provided to test your home network speed .

Candidates whose home network speed does not meet the minimum requirements can independently contact their ISP to upgrade their service before their confirmed start date.

Whenever working remotely, the candidate's home network must meet the minimum required speed and follow the hardware connection settings determined by their provisioned equipment and department role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Student Experience

  • Identify student needs and create programs and webinars with a focus on health, wellness, respect, diversity, and inclusion
  • Create virtual social events for students to meet each other, network, and have fun
  • Advise online students in all aspects of their student experience to help enhance their personal and professional development
  • Support student growth in preparation for their careers by collaborating with the Center for Career and Professional Development (CCPD), supporting the Workforce Ready initiative, and creating programs that enhance student skills for the workplace
  • Create opportunities to recognize students for their achievements Honors Program, Dean’s List, individual achievements, awards for milestones or accomplishments, etc.
  • Serve as the Advisor to the Council of Online Student Experience (COSE); set the guidelines, meet regularly with the COSE members, guide the members to success programming and representation of the online student body;

oversee online clubs through COSE; collaborate with club advisors

  • Collaborate with departments that provide programs and services to students to symbiotically plan, collaborate, and promote events to the online students
  • Work closely with other departments throughout the student life cycle admissions, scholarships, financial aid, academic advising, faculty, academic support services, CCPD, and more
  • Respond to inappropriate student behavior, consistent with the Student Handbook; meet with students to discuss incidents, document the conversations, and apply sanctions as needed, in collaboration with the Dean of Students
  • Serve as a first responder to online student emergencies and crisis intervention and coordinate activities as needed
  • Respond to mental health concerns and work closely with the Mental Health and Wellness staff to develop supportive plans for the student;

involve emergency responders when needed

Communication

  • Identify opportunities for students to consistently receive communication and to connect with the Director newsletter, virtual office hours, information sessions, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to promote events for the online students and to monitor and respond to the virtual behavior of the students
  • Develop an outreach campaign across multiple media to begin to grow a sense of community and belonging; involve students in the campaign for their growth and to enhance participation
  • Work with the Marketing team to create messaging and materials as needed for programs
  • Develop and maintain relationships and clear lines of communication with other Associates and departments to support student needs and success

Administration

  • Ensure policies in the Student Handbook are up to date and consistent
  • Complete incident reports and other tracking processes to document student behavior
  • Develop regular reports and summaries as requested; create dashboards for tracking data
  • Gather and create online resources for students; collaborate with IT to store and make resources available to students
  • Collect student data via surveys and focus groups, identify trends, and use data for improvement in the assessment cycle
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Bachelor’s required, Master’s preferred in Student Affairs, Adult Education, Psychology, or similar; will consider other graduate degrees
