OFFICE PROFILE :

The Human Resources Office is responsible for all university personnel affairs and is supervised by the Chief Mission Officer.

Human Resources functions include overseeing employee needs, recruiting, hiring, performance management, employee compensation and benefits, training and development, employment records, personnel policies, and compliance with government regulations and reports.

ROLE :

Perform all functions necessary to support the daily operations and initiatives of the Human Resources Department and facilitate a smooth operation of the department.

Directly reports to the Human Resources Director with significant contact with supervisors, employees, and external constituents.

All activities of this position are to contribute to the fulfillment of the mission of the university.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING :

Employee Classification, Pay, & Timesheet Records :

  • Enter employee classification, pay, and timesheet data.
  • Train employees on how to use the online timesheet system.
  • Ensure data accuracy by auditing HR data.

Benefits Coordination :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits questions.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers.
  • Educate employees on the suite of benefits.
  • Oversee enrollment of new hire benefits.
  • Ensure accurate employee benefit deductions.
  • Oversee annual open enrollment.
  • Prepare the Annual Compensation Report (ACR).
  • Enter 1095-C information and distribute employees' annual ACA 1095-C forms.
  • Coordinate campus wellness events.

Employee Relations; Training & Development; Performance Reviews :

  • Assist the HR Director with conducting investigations for workplace issues such as complaints, conflicts, and policy violations.
  • Serve as Title IX investigator and attend Title IX trainings as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions, workshops, and seminars for supervisors.
  • Manage employee performance reviews.
  • Oversee employee training using the online training portal and ensure that all mandatory training is completed.

Workers Compensation :

  • Communication : Serve as the primary point of contact for work-related injuries & illnesses and provide guidance and support throughout the claim process.
  • Collaborate with Campus Safety and review Campus Safety injury reports.
  • Complete DWC-1 with employees and submit claim information to the WC insurance provider.
  • Claims Management : Refer employees for medical treatment and collaborate with employees, supervisors, doctors, and worker's compensation insurance on prescribed treatment plans and restrictions.
  • Record Keeping and Reporting : Maintain accurate and confidential records of all WC claims

Human Resources Department Support

  • Assist in the overall workflow of the Human Resources department and provide backup coverage for new hire onboarding & exits.
  • Implement workflow procedures based on the direction of the Human Resources Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field. Five years of related experience and / or training.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with high integrity.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate with diplomacy and succinctness.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent follow-up
  • Relationally savvy, demonstrating partnering and influencing skills up and down the organizational structure in a positive manner.
  • Exemplify Christian philosophy of the Concordia University mission statement in all aspects of day-to-day duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.
