The Communications and Events Coordinator at the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) is responsible for the department’s overall communications, including web content, social media, and print activities.

In concert with Center leadership and a team of creative professionals and graduate students, the Coordinator leads the development and implementation of strategic communication efforts and oversees the Center’s outreach strategy to promote the Center’s approaches to excellence in teaching and learning and the University’s commitment to academic innovation.

This position also manages the execution of and publicity for major Center events, including those in collaboration with university and external partners, and collaborates with team leaders and colleagues on the execution and communication around smaller events.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

Create communication materials and develop strategic messaging around the activities and organizational priorities of the Center.

Collaborate with departmental teams to develop storytelling direction for Center projects and programs through web content, print collateral, social media, and other digital media assets.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with external and internal communications contacts and key University offices to create opportunities for partner engagement.

Co-direct the planning, execution, and publicity for both large university-wide events and smaller events with internal and external partners.

Plan and manage discrete communications, reports, and events identified by the Executive Director and Center leadership.

Serve as a member of various University committees and working groups related to communications.

Work Interactions

The individual in this position reports to the Director of Strategy and Operations. This position works closely with the Director of Digital Experience, the Strategy & Operations team, the Executive Director, and the CNDLS leadership team, while working collaboratively with all CNDLS staff.

The individual in this position communicates regularly with faculty, administrators, and other units on campus such as the Office of the Provost and the Office of Strategic Communications to carry out work on behalf of the Executive Director.

This position also interfaces regularly with external constituents as a representative of CNDLS in an outreach capacity.

This individual is responsible for articulating CNDLS’ priorities and strategic communications, both internally and externally, to promote the University’s commitment to innovation in teaching and learning.

Requirements and Qualifications

BA in communications or related field; MA in communications or related field preferred

3-5 years of experience required (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)

Outstanding writing skills in a variety of communication formats

Excellent organizational, planning, and decision-making skills

High level of interpersonal skills to effectively interact with potential partners and collaborators and to engage in outreach as representative of CNDLS

Ability to manage multiple priorities and to be flexible and collaborative in a dynamic environment

Ability to engage in creative problem solving and troubleshooting to meet diverse organizational needs across communications and events

Familiarity with the Center’s programs and practices preferred

Work Mode Designation

Pay Range :

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
