Phone Triage Nurse
Location : Marietta, GA
Pay : $24 / hour for Medical Assistants, $27 / hour for LPNs
Type : On-site
Hours : 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, with 1-2 Saturdays (AM only) per month
Saturday Pay : Additional $4 / hour, plus overtime when applicable
Experience Required : Minimum of 1+ years in a similar pediatric role and Phone Triage Experience
Role Overview
As a Phone Triage Nurse, you will play a crucial role in delivering expert medical advice over the phone. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing patient symptoms, providing medical guidance, and ensuring high-quality patient care through professional and empathetic interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to Communications : Handle incoming calls, portal messages, and provider messages promptly.
- Conduct Assessments : Use established protocols and guidelines, including Clear Triage, to evaluate patient symptoms and determine appropriate care levels (Emergent, urgent, non-urgent, or home care).
- Provide Advice : Offer medical advice, instructions, and recommendations with a patient-centered approach.
- Refer Appropriately : Direct patients to suitable medical facilities or providers based on guidelines.
- Document Interactions : Accurately record all patient interactions in the EMR system, including assessments, recommendations, and instructions.
- Prioritize Patient Care : Review checkup and Breathewell statuses before provider consultations, except in emergencies.
- Assess Refill Requests : Verify the necessity of refill requests from pharmacies before forwarding them to the provider.
- Coordinate Refills : For antibiotics or asthma medications, call patients to assess their condition and suggest appointments if needed.
- Manage Recalls : Handle recall tasks between patient appointments to ensure follow-up care.
- Backup Coverage : Provide support for ADHD Behavioral and Forms Departments as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1+ years of experience in a similar pediatric role.
- Ability to work 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday AM shifts.
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
