Position Overview :

The Contents Processing and Cleaning Professional plays a vital role in restoration projects by assessing, cleaning, and restoring personal property and contents affected by fire, water, smoke, mold, or other damage.

This position is responsible for handling items with care, inventorying and packing belongings, and utilizing specialized cleaning techniques and equipment to restore damaged items to their pre-loss condition.

Key Responsibilities :

• Inventory and Documentation : Accurately document and inventory personal property for clients, using specialized software to track all items throughout the restoration process.
• Packing and Transportation : Safely pack and transport items from the damaged property to the cleaning facility or storage, ensuring all contents are securely handled to prevent further damage.
• Cleaning and Restoration : Use professional-grade cleaning techniques and equipment (e.g., ultrasonic cleaning, ozone treatment, HEPA vacuums) to clean and deodorize a wide range of materials, including furniture, textiles, electronics, and artwork.
• Content Processing : Sort, categorize, and prioritize items based on damage severity, determining which contents can be restored and which are non-recoverable.
• Collaboration : Work closely with other restoration professionals, including mitigation teams, adjusters, and supervisors, to ensure seamless communication and workflow on all contents-related projects.
• Storage and Organization : Maintain organized storage facilities for cleaned items and properly document the condition and location of all contents.
• Quality Control : Conduct quality checks on restored items, ensuring they meet company and industry standards before returning them to the client.
• Customer Service : Communicate with clients regarding the status of their contents, providing detailed explanations of the cleaning process, timelines, and outcomes.
• Health and Safety : Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring proper handling of hazardous materials.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in cleaning and restoration, particularly in contents processing, is preferred.
• Knowledge of various cleaning methods and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and adapt to changing project demands.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Certifications :

• IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certifications in Fire & Smoke Restoration, Water Damage Restoration, or Contents Processing and Cleaning.
• Experience with Xactimate, Encircle, MICA or other restoration / insurance software is a plus.

This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented with a passion for helping restore clients' personal property to its original state after a disaster.
