Shift : Part-Time, (20 hrs. per week), Flexible hours, Flexible shift, On call rotational coverage required.
Work Location : University of Miami Hospital - Cardiovascular Imaging
Responsibilities :
- Coordinate / manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
- Supervise and perform diagnostic imaging studies under the direction / supervision of a Clinical Vascular lab Attending or Fellow.
- Assist with the education and training of new physicians.
- Assist Clinical Vascular Attendings and PhD's in developing new protocols and Ultrasound imaging techniques.
- Participate in research initiatives and development of research protocols.
- Act in a team leader capacity on a routine basis.
- Monitor charging of Ultrasound procedures and supplies daily to ensure correctness.
- Demonstrate Ultrasound equipment for site visits for visiting physicians and administrators.
- Provide in-service classes in section.
- Obtain and examine the order for an Ultrasound scan to be aware of information such as procedures requested and patient’s condition.
- Ensure that orders are appropriate to the type of exam recommended by physician.
- Identify patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients.
- Verify the patient’s ID by checking their name and date of birth.
- Always obtain necessary consents and education.
- Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Ultrasound scanners.
- Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history and medical records and adapt exam as necessary.
- Demonstrate competence in performing Ultrasound scans as ordered.
- Assist in positioning patients for Ultrasound scans.
- Maintain proper aseptic technique utilizing universal precaution guidelines.
- Prepare contrast for use and obtain verbal consent for administration of contrast.
- Assist Vascular Attending with diagnostic Ultrasound procedures if required.
- Evaluate Ultrasound scans for technical quality and accuracy.
- Schedule patients for procedures and assist with clerical functions.
- Maintain accurate patient records.
- Provide assistance with orientation and training to new Vascular technologists.
- Perform basic nursing functions in the patient’s care.
- Keep work area in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Report unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to hospital / department HR policies and regulatory body guidelines.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations within the department.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education : High School diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography and / or Vascular accredited program.
Certification and Licensing : Vascular Ultrasound Certification, RVT (Registered Vascular Tech) by ARDMS, RVS (Registered Vascular Sonographer) by CCI.
Experience : Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes : Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure.
Ability to process confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
