This is a hybrid position and would require you to be in the local office 2-3 days a week.
Role Summary
Platform Engineering Manager will lead platform and security engineers to drive the evolution of Navitaire’s cloud platform on Azure, which serves as the foundation for engineering and product teams to deliver next-generation capabilities to our customers.
This is a dynamic role that requires effective communication, collaboration, and direct delivery of the cloud platform, while meeting Navitaire standards to ensure reliability, scalability, and security.
Success for this role will be measured on enablement of engineering teams with automation, governance, and federation while promoting continuous improvement within the cloud infrastructure and platform for the Navitaire organization.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
Build, mentor, and manage a team of platform and security engineers.
Set clear goals and expectations, provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
Work closely with leadership of value delivery teams.
Platform Engineering
Oversee the evolution of Navitaire’s Azure cloud platform to enable Navitaire’s solution portfolio growth and transformation.
Promote reliability to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of the cloud infrastructure by establishing SLO and SLI for platform capabilities and components that support overall SLAs.
Serve as a point of escalation for platform-related issues, providing expert guidance and support, as necessary.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, architects, and product owners to align platform capabilities with business needs.
Champion automation with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for automated provisioning of platform resources and utilize automation tools such as Azure Resource Manager (ARM), Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
Establish and optimize Azure costs while providing visibility to teams to understand the cost of the platform.
Enable self-service for platform capabilities to speed up innovation.
Work with Navitaire cyber security team to identify security requirements, conduct assessments, and ensure vulnerability scans, and penetration tests are completed as needed.
Ensure platform team is following industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, GDPR, HIPAA.)
Support security incident response procedures in place within the organization.
Bridge knowledge needed to install, configure, monitor, and administer Azure platform to Tier 1 & 2 support teams.
About the ideal candidate
B.S degree in Computer Science, or Engineering, or a related field. M.S. degree is a plus.
4+ years working experience with cloud platforms, and as part of platform engineering teams.
3+ years of leadership or management experience, preferably in a technical capacity
2+ years working with CI / CD tools and concepts (e.g., Azure Pipelines, Jenkins)
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Excellent leadership, communication, and people skills.
Strong working knowledge of container-based infrastructure on Azure (e.g., containerD / Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, OpenShift)
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or similar, and knowledge of CI / CD tools and practices.
Understanding of networking, security, and identity management within cloud environments.
In-depth knowledge of cloud security best practices and frameworks.
Experience with security assessment tools and methodologies.
Familiarity with compliance standards and regulatory requirements.
Experience with programming Languages such as C# / .NET, and Java.
Experience with scripting Languages such as PowerShell, Python, or JavaScript.
A passion to learn, share, and collaborate.
Nice to Have
Azure certifications (ex : Azure Fundamentals, Azure DevOps Engineer)
Experience with other cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and practices.
Travel industry experience is a plus.
Experience with Observability practices and tooling, such as OpenTelemetry standards, Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus.
