Job Summary

The Office of Diversity and Outreach (ODO) Operations Team seeks an experienced Special Project Manager to develop and implement projects and initiatives and to execute key strategic initiatives to support UCSF's diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) mission and the operations of the Office of Diversity and Outreach.

Under the supervision of the Manager of the Anti-Racism Initiative (ARI) in ODO, the Special Project Manager will manage a variety and evolving projects that provide programmatic support to ODO's key initiatives.

This will include projects under the formation of a Center for Racial Justice in Health and Science and in alignment with the seven pillars of the Anti-Racism Initiative.

The role will also engage and collaborate with DEI and Anti-Racism leaders and community partners on the campus and health system to ensure communications for strategic alignment and sharing information / resources, to track and collect progress and outcomes, to report and provide assessment and recommendations for opportunities and improvements to advance critical aspects of UCSF DEI and Anti-Racism goals.

Additionally, the Special Project Manager will be responsible for various administrative work to support ODO executive leaders and the operational demands of the central office.

Duties include but are not limited to events planning, scheduling and coordinating of meetings, process development and management, budgeting and other logistical tasks.

This position exercises a broad range of project management and administrative skills and requires to work consultatively and independently in all aspects from concepts to completion.

This position communicates with organizational leaders and partners with professionalism and judgement. The ideal candidate would be a team player and a strategic thinker, and is adaptable, organized, resourceful, receptive, efficient and timely to effectively and accurately execute evolving work and constant demands.

Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with DEI program directors / administrators and partners to ODO is essential to succeed in this position.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum three years project management experience in the workforce
  • Foundational understanding of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion issues
  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.
  • Analytical / problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses.
  • Strong policy analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge project management or work management platforms softwares such as SmartSheet, Asana.
