Community Outreach/CME Site Specialist

The purpose of this position is to support hospital community outreach and continuing medical education (CME) activities.

The position supports the hospital's community outreach initiatives using strategic practices including event planning and activation, speaking engagements, community sponsored research, development and evaluation / reporting.

The position also provides support for CME activities including needs assessment, learning objectives, evaluations and outcomes, and compliance with appropriate accreditation.

Major Responsibilities :

  • Partners with leader to coordinate hospital's involvement in targeted community relations, outreach and education activities.
  • Partners in development of education exhibits; maintains / updates existing exhibits
  • Plans community education / lectures for both adults and children
  • Plans participation in strategic community events to increase visibility, accessibility, health promotion and community partnerships.
  • Assists leadership in appropriate community partnership development
  • Determines appropriate level of participation in community events and activities
  • Assists leadership on school health intiiatives
  • Plans, develops and implements CME activities in collaboration with ACH faculty members, designed to maintain, develop or improve knowledge, problem-solving, technical skills and / or professional performance standards.
  • Ensures education is developed and promoted within ACCME guidelines, AAH compliance policies and AAH CME policies. Responsible for submitting CME applications to CME department.
  • Responsible for critical educational files, credit letters, contracts, planning documents and evaluations for educational activities.

Updates and maintains CME databases to meet accreditation requirements.

Identifies sources of educational grant funding and obtains letters of agreement from commercial supporters, such as pharmaceutical corporations, that provide grants in support of educational activities.

Works within organizations' interactions with industry policies and ACCME's Standards for Commercial Support

  • Builds effective relationships with activity directors, planners and other team members to ensure successful implementation of CME activities.
  • Develops, designs and distributes promotional materials in compliance with AAH and ACCME guidelines. Aggregates and reviews evaluation data;

addresses any concerns noted.

  • Serves as CME liaison to all clinical departments at location. Provides in-service training for activity directors, planners and coordinators.
  • Supports AAH and ACH's mission to build health equity, ensure access and improve health outcomes in our communities through evidence-informed programs and services and innovative partnerships by addressing medical needs and social determinants of health.
  • Assists on community health initiatives and community health needs assessment implementation plans
  • Participates in appropriate health collaboratives within service area.
  • Develops community partnerships / relationships to advance ACH initiatives

Education / Experience Required :

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent knowledge 2-3 yrs related experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

Self-directed, results-oriented and creative. Highly effective interpersonal communication skills. Presentation and group facilitating skills.

Critical thinking skills. Able to plan for and manage program coordination and administrative activities. Ability to organize and prioritize work.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of staff, physicians, management, and internal and external accrediting bodies, medical specialty societies, vendors and stakeholders.

Excellent organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and attention to detail. Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word) Ability to make independent decisions within established guidelines regarding planning, organizing and scheduling own work.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

Resiliency and flexibility to deal with a changing environment. Ability to travel to community partner meetings and events.

Promotion of community outreach programs with various community entities. ( Schools, fire stations, police) Ability to lift, transport necessary equipment, displays throughout hospital and community.

Ability to maneuver in tight spaces (i.e. automobiles to install car seats) Ability to cooperate and work well with others.

Ability to make sound and timely decisions within scope of job description. Ability to collaborate with internal and external colleagues.

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs without assistance.
