Job Description and Duties

  • Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to the following tasks : Lay out, and performpreventive maintenance and work activities such as installation of transmissionlines for electrical and telecommunication equipment;
  • assemble, install andrepair electric lights, motors, heaters, generators, transformers, switchboardsand other electrical apparatus;

troubleshoot electrical systems, includingtelephone and paging equipment; operate electrical equipment; prepare job costestimates and make rough sketches.

Lead the work of skilled and unskilled staff(i.e., Apprentices, Training & Development candidates, and LateralTransfers) and inmates as assigned.

Respond to emergency calls to work(callbacks). Perform other duties as required.

Candidates new to CDCR are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by departmental annual Tuberculosis testing / evaluation thereafter.
