Job Description and Duties

This position is eligible for teleworking under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, but some in-office work may be required.

Proof of California residency will be required if teleworking prior to start date.

Under the direction of a Senior Assistant Inspector General (SrAIG) or an Attorney Supervisor, the Attorney III assesses, reviews,and reports on internal investigations and the litigation of disciplinary actions which occur within CDCR, including investigationswhich arise from staff misconduct complaints and other grievances.

The Attorney III monitors the performance of CDCRs Office ofLegal Affairs, Employment Advocacy and Prosecution Team attorneys;

Office of Internal Affairs (OIA) investigators; and hiringauthorities to ensure the appropriateness of policies, practices, and investigative and disciplinary systems.

Attorneys in thisclassification are expected to perform job duties with limited supervision, demonstrate the ability to think critically, and exercisesound judgment in executing job duties.

Further, attorneys in this classification are expected to prepare written documents thatdo not require significant revision and input from supervisory staff.

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) California State Bar License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Must have Attorney III list, transfer, or reinstatement eligibility and be reachable on the certification list. (This is subject to change based on classification).
