Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Chief Counsel, the Attorney III performs difficult, sensitive, and complex research and analysis to provide oral and written opinions regarding public contracting, procurement laws, disclosure, and procedures and selected administrative matters for Board of Equalization (BOE) staff and management.

This includes, but is not limited to, requiring knowledge, analysis and application of the California Public Contract Code, Government Code, Public Records Act (PRA), Information Practices Act (IPA), Political Reform Act, and Administrative Laws and policies including, but not limited to, Conflicts of Interest, Incompatible Activities, and Post-Governmental Employment.

The Attorney III may also provide legal services to the Board and Board staff in relation to essential program functions of the agency (Property Taxes, Tax on Insurers, and Alcoholic Beverage Tax).

Working Conditions

  • Telework is available fifty percent (50%) of the time.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Requires being in a stationary position, consistent with office work, for extended periods of time.
  • Daily use of a personal computer, office equipment, and / or telephone.
  • Must be able to move / transport objects weighing up to twenty (20lbs.) pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
