JOB SUMMARY
The Jr. Accountant is responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are being followed consistently throughout the finance organization in order to safeguard its assets, verify the accuracy and reliability of its accounting data and promote adherence to the prescribed policies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer and perform daily Accounting Functions
- Accounts Payable Processing
- Balance Sheet Reconciliation
- Sales and Use Tax Processing
- Property Tax Accounting
- Tax Exemption Certificate Tracking
- Ad hoc projects as they come up
- Evaluates both administrative and accounting controls and prepares reports to the Controller and Accounting Manager on compliance with appropriate standards and on problems that require strengthening of internal controls.
- Determines if the system of authorization and recording procedures are adequate to provide reasonable accounting control over assets, liabilities, income and expenses.
- Reviews cash control procedures and monitors safeguarding of assets.
- Determines that there is segregation of duties and dual control, as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned by manager / supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills : written, verbal and listening.
- Strong desire to exceed customer needs.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Project a courteous and professional image at all times.
- Must exhibit detail orientation, with a good sense of urgency.
- Must be a self-starter and team oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows
- Excellent organizational skills.
LEVEL OF AUTHORITY
Within company and departmental guidelines preset by respective supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to work in a high-paced environment with a high volume of information flow and frequently changing priorities.
The Associate is occasionally exposed to a machine shop environment and hazards from equipment movement. Position requires frequent customer interface and occasional overnight travel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The Associate frequently is required to walk;
use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The Associate is occasionally required to stand for moderate amounts of time.
The Associate must have good articulation and voice control. Additionally, the Associate must frequently lift and / or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and / or move up to 20 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
