Corporate Claims is responsible for quality control management and technical oversight of all operations and assuring compliance with claims policies and philosophies.

Corporate Claims participates in management of complex, high impact claims and claims issues that pose a potential risk to the corporation.

Our Corporate Claims division is currently seeking a Litigation Service Analyst. Candidates local to the Cincinnati, OH area or remote will be considered for this position.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Reviews and analyzes law firm invoices for compliance with company guidelines. Refers the most complex items to more experienced staff and / or management as needed.

Checks invoices for time and billing errors.Determines if invoices include only those services for which the firm was retained.

Participates in determining if invoices are reasonable for the legal work performed compared to the expense incurred.Enters edits into the system.

Finalizes coded invoices where no additional information is required from the law firm.May offer recommendations to claim management on counsel selection for improved billing costs / services.

Communicates and negotiates with law firms regarding questioned line entries. Acts as a liaison between claims professionals and the law firms.

Participates in conference calls with law firms to review results of bill reviews. Answers questions and inquiries from the law firms and claims offices.

Prepares requests for further explanation to be sent to the law firms.

  • Researches and participates in resolving disputes on invoices. Analyzes responses submitted by law firms. Handles appeals / reconsiderations from law firms on invoice reductions.
  • May participate in audits of law firm billing practices,
  • Makes decisions within authority level to finalize and approve for payment assigned legal invoices.
  • Generates reports from the bill review software, such as pending invoices, approved / paid, etc. Runs and analyzes statistical reports for business units.
  • Prepares / documents negotiated billing agreements with law firms. May participate in negotiating billing agreements with law firms.
  • Maintains department filing and record-keeping systems.
  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of guidelines and standards for outside attorneys.
  • Provides training and instruction to internal and external customers.Instructs attorneys and paralegals at the law firms on the use of Case Management in the billing software.

Instructs company claims staff and management on the bill review process and the use of Case Management in the billing software.

  • May provide guidance and assistance to less experienced positions and other functional areas.
  • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff and may have a participatory role in decisions regarding talent selection, development, and performance management for direct reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education : Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school or equivalent required.

Field of Study : Law

Experience : 1-3 years post bar experience in insurance law or litigation. 1-2 years experience in a legal hourly billing environment preferred.

Proficient in Legal Solutions Suite / Assure Legal or comparable bill review software desired.
