Summary
The Product Engineer will be responsible for ensuring product consistently meets specifications and on time delivery to customers, including understanding demand forecasts and product costs, dispositioning product, monitoring process conditions, implementing statistical process controls, and escalating issues as appropriate.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead technical efforts and use appropriate project planning, troubleshooting, experimental design, and lean manufacturing tools to drive product, quality, cost / waste, and process improvements in the Carestream Health Oregon Product Engineering group.
This will include developing accreditation plans, executing trials, analyzing trial results, developing test methods, leading root cause analyses, and developing process and safety improvement projects.
The person in this role will be the primary technical contact for assigned products or projects with internal and / or external customers and will work to ensure that customer deliverables are met in a timely and efficient manner.
Position Responsibilities :
- Work with Planning, Operations, Safety and Quality teams to deliver product to meet customer delivery and quality requirements.
- Develop and implement programs to improve Quality through product variability reduction, implementing mistake proofing improvements, quality control test methods and statistical process control charting, and monitoring and improving product performance.
Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine root cause of quality issues and implement improvements.
- Develop and implement productivity and cost improvement programs through lab experimentation and product Change Management practices.
- Develop and execute accreditation and trial run plans, analyze trial results and drive recommended change based on performance analysis.
- Demonstrate project management skills including prioritizing multiple action items and projects.
- up to 10% travel possible.
Required Skills & Education :
- Must be current US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- BA, BS, or MS in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Natural Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Experience level : 5+ years of experience
- Defining and implementing product and process improvement projects
- Monitoring manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and delivery trends and intervening as needed to prevent failures and reduce variability
Desired Skills :
- Manufacturing technical experience with coated films
- Process and / or Quality engineering
- Strong technical writing capabilities
- Experience presenting to plant management, vendors, internal and external customers
- Statistical analysis (Black Belt Certification preferred)
- Quality systems development
Work Environment :
This position is primarily an office setting with standard temperature and humidity controls, moderate to light noise, fluorescent lighting, primarily sitting with standing desks available, extensive computer and keyboard use, etc.
