Successful, leading tier I automotive supplier is seeking a Strategic Buyer to be responsible for procurement of a specific category and an annual spend of up to $50M.

As the Strategic Buyer , you will report to a Purchasing Manager and will work closely with two locations to support production efforts.

Daily you will be responsible for the following tasks :

• Source components, parts and raw materials for an assigned category with an annual spend of $50M and up to 100 SKUs
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers (approximately 20 on an established vendor list) and source new ones as needed
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and contracts
• Read quotations, solicit RFQs and discuss feasibility concerns
• Adapt to changing procurement responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
• Develop and coach the supplier base
• Track and enter required information into the organization's ERP system
• Work within cross functional teams to improve procurement strategy and find cost savings
• Make decisions based off of data and work hard to improve reporting strategy
• Support the assigned manufacturing sites and assist with quality issues
• Perform other duties as delegated by management
• This is a fast-paced position that requires qualified candidates to be on the floor initially to learn the manufacturing processes;

floor time after hire will be minimal. Individuals should be able to work within team oriented environments, learn new tasks and commodities quickly, be able to handle changing priorities and enjoy supporting the manufacturing site.

REQUIREMENTS for the Strategic Buyer :

1. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; experience will be considered in lieu of degree

2. Depending on level of education, at least three years in a similar fast-paced procurement role

3. Experience sourcing new vendors and purchasing in a manufacturing environment

4. Strong negotiation skills

5. The ability to read blueprints

6. ERP experience

7. Microsoft Excel experience, including charts, graphs and formulas

Skills preferred but NOT required :

1. Automotive supplier experience

2. SAP experience

3. Power reporting features, like Power BI, power queries, etc.
