Your day as aN Activities Assistant

As a Full Time Activities Assistant at Palolo Chinese Home, your role will be to actively engage our residents and participants in activities of interest, fostering a sense of joy, purpose, and socialization within our senior community.

In addition to leading and assisting group activities, you will also provide personal care to participants, including assistance with eating, dressing, grooming, and transferring.

This important aspect of your role will be conducted under the supervision of another CNA, nurse, or supervisor, ensuring the safety and well-being of our participants.

By effectively carrying out these responsibilities, you will contribute to creating a nurturing and engaging environment for our residents, promoting their overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Are you a good fit for this Activities Assistant job?

To be successful in the role of Full Time Activities Assistant at Palolo Chinese Home, you will need to possess a range of skills and qualifications.

You should have some experience and / or knowledge of activities appropriate in a geriatric setting, as well as a basic understanding of and the ability to work with ill, aged, frail, and / or disabled residents.

The ability to lead activities and work effectively with individual residents and groups is crucial.

You should demonstrate flexibility, patience, a cheerful disposition, tact, and enthusiasm when interacting with residents.

Strong communication skills are essential, as you must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English to facilitate proper communication with others.

Caring for the aged and disabled requires providing physical and emotional support, so empathy, compassion, and the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism are important.

You should also demonstrate autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in carrying out your job responsibilities.

Requirements for this position include a high school diploma or equivalent, Nurse Aide certification from an accredited Nurse Aide Training Program, and current CPR and First Aid certification.
