Job Summary

The Biomedical Technician IV maintains clinical equipment through effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Program (MEMPs) and Denver Health business standards.

Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, diagnosing and troubleshooting in the repair of basic and complex medical equipment.

The Biomed Technician IV will participate in the evaluation and selection of new equipment, accessories, and supplies, and coordinates special projects and performs technical tasks.

This position provides technical guidance, training, and support to other Biomed Technicians. The Biomed Technician IV will support the Biomedical and Clinical Engineering Manager and help guide the team on a day-to-day operations, scheduling, and minor administrative tasks to ensure team targets and goals are completed.

Essential Functions :

  • Performs assigned duties in accordance with current policies and procedures, including scheduled maintenance, equipment inspection, installations, troubleshooting and repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and safety testing of all levels of medical equipment ranging from infusion pumps, patient warmers, ventilator, imaging, and anesthesia equipment. (20%)
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the lead position, including technician scheduling, tech training, pm procedure writing and review, specified equipment cross-training, parts ordering and returns, email correspondence / customer interaction, and document all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). (20%)
  • Provides technical guidance to other Biomed Technicians in the department. (20%)
  • Coordinates special projects and performs technical tasks. (15%)
  • Continuously improve customer relationship by driving customer satisfaction through excellent customer service and effective communication. (10%)
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new equipment, accessories, and supplies. (10%)
  • Attend training and schools as assigned or offered to keep up on skills and technologies to help support the institution. (5%)

Education :

  • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology Required
  • Two additional years of experience in lieu of degree. Required

Work Experience :

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a technical field and working with medical equipment, including 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Two additional years of experience in lieu of degree. Required

Licenses :

  • CBET-Certified Biomedical Technician - AAMI - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation
  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Manage projects start to finish in conjunction with the clinical engineer coordinating with technicians, users, and vendors.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Read and understand electronic and pneumatic schematics
  • Familiar with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and database management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Basic IT and networking knowledge.
