Title : Auditor II, Capital Inventory

Perform routine and non-routine tasks pertaining to the annual tracking and regular and special auditing of the capital asset inventory.

Reconcile audit results with the capital asset listing and maintain purchasing documents. Perform duties with moderate to little supervision as an experienced-level individual contributor.

Essential Functions :

• Maintain and update records to reflect accurate property utilization of the DeKalb County School District (DCSD), ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, as well as generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Verify inventory items are present during audits, organize schedules for efficient time management, and assist in the recovery of lost or stolen items to minimize asset loss.
• Develop and implement procedures for safeguarding capital assets, advising principals and department heads on best practices.
• Utilize and maintain the asset management system to ensure all capital asset records are accurate, complete, and reflective of cost depreciation.
• Investigate discrepancies found during inventory audits by collaborating with schools and departments to maintain precise capital asset records.

• Train school personnel and department staff on inventory policies and procedures to enhance accountability across DCSD.
• Assist internal and external auditors by providing requested audit evidence related to DCSD's capitalized accounting records.
• Provide insight on process improvements and successful outcomes and make recommendations for solutions as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field with 4 - 8 years of related experience preferred.
• High school diploma with 6 - 10 years of related experience required.
