About the job
The Healthcare Center is looking for a Consulting Physician to deliver compassionate, holistic primary care within a family practice environment.
The physician will work closely with an interprofessional team to offer care to a diverse population. Responsibilities include providing on-site primary health care for employees and their family members, as well as collaborating with nurse practitioners.
As a Consulting Physician, you will :
- Manages complex and / or chronic patient health problems.
- Diagnoses, treats, and manages acute and chronic illnesses and conditions.
- Performs physical exams and provides relevant patient education.
- Maintains accurate, appropriate, and timely documentation using an electronic health record; uses data to assess impact of care management.
- Identifies health risks, performs disease screening, and implements early intervention to prevent or lessen the effects of disease and disability.
- Manages patient emergencies including triage, treatment, referral, appropriate consultation as needed.
- Participates in after-hours call rotation. Refers Health Care Center primary care patients to appropriate sources of after-hours care.
- Arranges and coordinates specialty care, as needed.
- Participates in Healthy Living events promoting Well-Being and Health promotion to local and global SAS employees and dependents.
May Coordinate and lead special projects and wellness seminars.
- Consults and collaborates with nurse practitioners and supervises the medical acts they perform in accordance with a signed Collaborative Practice Agreement.
- Collaborates with RN Care team member to manage panel of patients.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Requires 5 years of family practice experience including experience beyond medical or osteopathy school and residency and working collaboratively with nurse practitioners.
- Degree from a school of medicine or osteopathy. Licensed to practice medicine in NC by the NC Medical Board. Current Board certification in Family Practice by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Dual certification in Meds / Peds considered dependent upon current practice experience.
- Women’s health and Pediatric experience.
- Excellent skills in providing primary health care to all ages.
- Excellent organizational skills and time management.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements stated above.
