Position SUMMARY

To be fully engaged in providing Quality / No Harm, Customer Experiences, and Stewardship by managing all aspects of the Construction department.

Provides professional services in managing all capital expenditures in the planning, design, development, construction, alteration, refurbishment and equipment installation for the Health First System.

Oversees all aspects of the project budget, project schedule and code and regulatory requirements. Responsible for equipment planning coordination and acquisition for each project.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Manage all construction, alteration, refurbishment and equipment replacement projects.
  • Select Architect or Engineer for Senior Management approval.
  • Coordinate planning, design and owner occupation of the project.
  • Work with facility managers on the areas of facilities and construction to guarantee that issues are communicated and coordinated with the appropriate Health First leaders.
  • Represent health system in negotiations with Municipal Architectural and Review Boards, County / City Building Departments, AHCA, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies for all construction projects.
  • Develop continuous improvements in Health First facilities maintenance and construction project plan programs to drive quality and performance improvements enterprise-wide.
  • Acquire an understanding of codes and issues for each construction project.
  • Review all documents and inspect and test all appropriate systems prior to AHCA inspections.
  • Work with facilities team to collaborate effectively with clinical and operations leaders to assure our facilities optimize our customers’ and patients’ experience at Health First.
  • Partner with operations leaders to assure our facilities support efficient work flows.
  • Manage Bidding and Award of Construction Contract.
  • Manage Contractor to maintain project budget and schedule.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education : Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering, Business, Architecture or related field.
  • Licensure : None
  • Certification : None
  • Work Experience : 5 years of experience in Construction.5 years of experience in Management.
  • Work Experience in lieu of Education : None
  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities : Superior service excellence and collaboration skills in working with key clinical leaders and stakeholders.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.Exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to lead project teams.Strong financial management / budgeting skills.

Strong negotiation and facilitation skills with the ability to motivate, persuade and build consensus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, stooping.
  • Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
  • Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
  • May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and / or low to moderate noise.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
  • Workspace may vary from open to confined; on site or remote.
  • May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
