Job Description

Provides assessment and treatment of children with psychological or sexual behavioral problems, assessment and intervention for infants and young children with prenatal exposure to alcohol and other drugs, and assessment of children with craniofacial anomalies and / or extreme prematurity.

Duties :

Assessment and Data Collection : Interview those with information about the functioning, needs, and strengths of youths with Child Welfare involvement.

Project will utilize the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) for this process. Provides evaluations and assessments for children referred for behavioral / mental health problems, psychological concerns, disabilities, medical conditions, and / or trauma.

  • Record Keeping : Will enter data into secure databases for the purpose of communicating the results of the CANS to all people on a youth’s treatment team.
  • Literature Research : Conducts research of the literature pertaining to youths with Child Welfare involvement.
  • Technical Research : Conducts technical research or assists in research.
  • Data Analysis : Conducts analyses of data.
  • Report Preparation : Prepares reports of CANS results, incorporating case data about youths with Child Welfare involvement.
  • Administrative Assistance : Provides administrative assistance as needed. Responsible for taking referral and scheduling intake assessments.
  • As Needed : Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Job Requirements Required Education :

Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related field, AND :

No experience required but must have completed counseling / clinical training in their graduate training program.

Certifications / Licenses :

CPR certification or completion within 6 months of hire

Skills :

  • Psychotherapy and consultation skills for children with behavior problems, and / or psychological or sexual abuse
  • Psychological assessment experience with infants and young children
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate, problem solve, and make decisions in order to make patients and families aware of the treatment
  • Ability to understand how children of different ages and developmental stages express their thoughts, emotions, and fears
  • Ability to effectively form connections and positive relationships with children
  • Ability to listen to the patient
  • Must have organization skills
  • Ability to think and come up with treatment plans and reassess the patient's progress and consider new treatment plans
  • Ability to keep up to date on new research and apply findings to the diagnosis and treatment of the patient

Preferred :

  • Experience with Child Welfare populations
  • 24 months experience in clinical and assessment with children from birth to twelve years of age
  • Experience assessing children who have been psychologically or sexually abused
  • Psychotherapy and consultation skills for children with behavior problems, and / or psychological or sexual abuse
  • Psychological assessment experience with infants and young children
