Title : Laboratory Technician
Location : Knoxville, TN
Duration : 6 months +
Overview
- Performs specific procedures for the screening and controlling of material used in the processing, manufacture, and distribution of blood and plasma products.
- Will report to the Lab Manager
Responsibilities
- Performs, interprets, and troubleshoots laboratory procedures related to unit and / or donor suitability testing and other assays as required
- Develops proficiency in laboratory information systems and workflow of samples
- Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures Analyzes test results against set controls
- Completes maintenance and Quality Control (QC) per Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs). Works within the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Lab
- Shares information with internal contacts with common desire to reach a solution
- Follows all safety regulations, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and rules. Maintains a clean, safe work environment
- Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment. Performs and documents troubleshooting and calibration of instructions
- Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance and assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
- Will consider candidates with an Associate's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 1 year experience, with 2 years of experience preferred
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) licensure in the State of Tennessee is preferred
Working Environment
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift or carry up to 40 lbs
- Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, squat, push, and have a high level of manual dexterity
- Required to wear personal protective eq
- Potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and blood borne pathogens
Additional Information
- 3rd shift / 10 : 00pm 6 : 30am
- Overtime and working extended hours may be required
