Summary

The Human Resources Manager handles staff recruiting, performance management processes, policies and procedures, employee engagement, and employee relations for business professionals / staff for all office locations.

The Manager will serve as a key part of the Human Resources (HR) and Office Administration team to recruit, retain, and develop the best talent.

The Manager will use his / her human resources, interpersonal, and project management skills to execute HR initiatives to support the Firm's goals and objectives.

This role will collaborate closely with attorneys and hiring managers, practice groups, and departments across the Firm to increase efficiency and effectiveness and provide excellent HR support.

The position will be located in Charlotte and work approximately 40 hours per week and may require additional work after regular business hours.

This position will travel to other offices as needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the full-cycle recruitment process for business professionals / staff positions
  • Handles vendor and placement agency relationships for business professionals / staff roles
  • Oversees onboarding and orientation for new business professionals
  • Responsible for employee relations for business professionals / staff positions
  • Administers annual performance review cycles for professional staff
  • Supports administration of the Professional Review Committee (PRC) and performance review cycles for non-partner attorneys
  • Responsible for recruiting and onboarding tracking and reporting in the HRIS
  • Updates policies, procedures, and other human resources documents
  • Responds to human resources questions from team members and connects them with resources
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources team and Office Administrators to accomplish HR and Firm objectives.
  • Partner with the Talent Management team on training and development initiatives for staff; supports diversity, equity and inclusion, lateral attorney recruitment, and summer associate program efforts as needed.
  • Attends training, education and development programs to assist in improved performance, personal growth and advancement
  • Provide support to the Director of HR and Manager of HRIS & Payroll on all HR-related matters
  • Assists with other duties and / or special projects as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

Five or more years of human resources experience and a bachelor's degree, preferably in human resources, business, or a related field.

Minimum of two years in HR in a law firm or other professional services environment preferred. Prior experience in recruiting, performance management, and employee relations strongly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to build relationships with a range of audiences.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High ethical standards, discretion, and ability to hold appropriate information confidential.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Problem-solver who recognizes when issues should be escalated.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to organize and prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player who is willing to help others and collaborate to accomplish tasks and projects.
  • Willingness to embrace and learn new skills and resolve issues.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat and / or similar software.
  • Experience with HRIS databases; Dayforce familiarity preferred.
  • Availability to work hours and weekends as needed and travel overnight on occasion to other Firm offices or events.
