POSITION SUMMARY

Are you passionate about payroll and ready to lead transformative initiatives? We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Payroll Management Leader to oversee all aspects of our payroll operations.

This pivotal role involves strategic planning, seamless payroll processing, ensuring compliance, and managing vendor relationships.

You will drive payroll transformation projects, streamline processes, boost efficiency, and enhance the overall payroll experience for our employees.

What you’ll do :

Payroll Precision & Timeliness : Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for salaried, hourly, union, and contract employees.

Influence and drive change across various business units, providing expert guidance and ensuring alignment.

Tax Compliance & Regulatory Adherence : Oversee payroll tax compliance and filings, keeping abreast of federal, state, and local regulations.

Implement robust controls to prevent errors and fraud.

  • System Implementation & Upgrades : Lead the implementation of new payroll systems or upgrades, managing all aspects from project planning to execution and post-implementation support.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work closely with HR, Finance, and IT teams to identify and leverage opportunities for process optimization and automation.
  • Performance Metrics & Reporting : Develop and maintain metrics to measure payroll operations' effectiveness and efficiency.

Regularly report performance to senior leadership and proactively address risks, issues, and improvement opportunities.

  • Vendor Relationship Management : Manage relationships with vendor partners, ensuring compliance, service quality, and alignment with contractual agreements.
  • Team Development & Leadership : Lead and mentor the payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Provide performance coaching and feedback.

What you bring to the table :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting, with a strong focus on payroll management.
  • Extensive experience in payroll processes, including administration, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements. In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, and tax codes.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Dayforce), and reporting tools. Solid skills in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities, capable of influencing and collaborating with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to drive change and manage resistance in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated project management expertise.

Pay : Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

For California this ranges from $120,000-$145,000 plus annual incentive, benefits and retirement program as outlined above.
