Position and Responsibilities Overview
Instill the RK safety culture into all employees. Analyze different types of work environments and procedures. Inspect workplaces for adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning safety, health, and environment.
As needed design programs to eliminate hazards regarding workplace injuries and damage to the environment.
- Identify hazards in the workplace and take appropriate steps to eliminate them.
- Take necessary steps to promote safety and health on job sites.
- Conduct continual safety inspections on assigned projects.
- Recommends installations of safety guards, safe working practices and use of personal safety equipment.
- Perform substance abuse testing, as requested.
- Present Health & Safety presentation at new hire orientation.
- Investigate all accidents and incidents to identify their causes and to determine how they might be prevented.
- Conduct training on a variety of topics including but not limited to fall protection, emergency response and etc.
- Ability to confront people who are not working safely.
- Develop new safety standards as required.
- Claims management and clinic visits, as required.
- Develop independent site specific training plans.
- Assist subcontractors and vendors for compliance on projects.
Qualifications
- Indirect supervision.
- Applies diversified knowledge of applicable principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments.
- College / University graduate with 1-3 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles.

Safety is Our Top Priority
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
- RK Mechanical employees and subcontractors are required to implement and maintain all safety and health systems practices including the training requirements of RK Mechanical Orientation, shop specific orientation, CPR / First Aid / AED / Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Identification and Reporting, and OSHA 10.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
- Work in high places, tight places, confined spaces and / or other adverse locations.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
- Work in all types of weather.
- Must have working knowledge of all trade materials and tools.
- Ability to lift and carry 51 to 75 lbs. occasionally, and / or 31 to 45 pounds of force frequently, and / or greater than negligible up to 16 to 22 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
