Brief Description
The purpose of this position is to complete the final step in the Brazos River Authority (BRA) wastewater treatment process, which is to turn bio solids into compost for resale to the public.
This is accomplished by operating and performing preventive maintenance on heavy equipment associated with composting operations.
- Responsibilities include routine equipment inspections; checking and adding fuel; cleaning filters; changing oil; replacing or repairing parts as necessary;
- lubricating equipment per manufacturers specifications; testing and documenting compost temperatures to determine process status;
grinding brush, turning windrows as needed; and adding water into process rows necessary to achieve regulatory compliance.
Other duties include miscellaneous grounds maintenance; cross training in all phases of water and wastewater operations and maintenance;
and any other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Minimum four years' experience or an equivalent combination of education
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License and Good Driving Record
- Class C or B Water and / or Wastewater Certification is beneficial
- High School Plus Vocational Training - Obtained with advanced study or training past high school.

STARTING SALARY RANGE
$24.01 to $30.61 per hour. This is a non-exempt position.

The BRA was created by the Texas Legislature in 1929 and exists to develop, manage, and protect the water resources of the Brazos River Basin.
Today, BRA's staff develops and distributes water supplies, provides water and wastewater treatment, monitors water quality, and pursues water conservation through public education programs.
