Summary of Position : The Curriculum Developer and Micro Credential Specialist will collaborate with academic faculty and college leadership across technical colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College system to identify and develop industry supported micro credentials in advanced manufacturing career pathways.

The Curriculum Developer will work closely with the Smarts & Parts Project Manager and be responsible for coordinating curriculum reviews across 9 colleges, developing new micro-credentials from existing curriculum, and aligning external credentials or certificates with programs and courses.

Additionally, this position will facilitate employer workshops, ensure course and assessment alignment, and develop a process for students to showcase their attainment of micro-credentials.

Occasional travel throughout the state of Wisconsin may be required. This is a fully remote eligible position, however, due to the travel needs of the position, applicants must be located within a 2 hour drive of one of the following WTCS college locations : Western, Chippewa Valley, Gateway, Lakeshore, Mid-State, Moraine Park, Northcentral, Northwood, Waukesha County

This benefit eligible position has an end date of April 30, 2028.

Essential Functions

1 Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect.

Regular attendance is required.

2. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.

3. Student Success if the cornerstone of Western's culture and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.

4. Plan and Facilitate Program Administration

  • Design and develop new micro-credentials from existing curriculum, aligning them with market demands and workforce competencies
  • Research and evaluate external credentials, certifications, or industry standards and align them with colleges' existing programs and curriculum
  • Cross walk existing 3rd party credentials / certificates to existing programs and courses
  • Identify opportunities for stacking credentials into larger qualifications or degrees
  • Plan and facilitate workshops with industry experts to ensure programs reflect current job market demands and skill requirements
  • Synthesize findings from employer workshops into actionable curriculum revisions and program enhancements that align with industry needs and credential attainment
  • Manage timelines and facilitate feedback loops to ensure smooth and timely curriculum revision processes
  • Ensure assessments are aligned with learning outcomes and competencies across programs
  • Develop a process for students to easily track and showcase the attainment of micro-credentials within their academic journey
  • Coordinate faculty workgroups across nine (9) colleges involved in the Smarts & Parts Grant

5. Plan and Facilitate Faculty Support

  • Collaborate with faculty and academic leaders across multiple colleges to coordinate regular curriculum reviews
  • Collaborate with faculty and external stakeholders to ensure micro-credentials reflect current industry standards and skills.
  • Work with faculty and industry partners to integrate relevant credentials into courses and programs to enhance student employability and work-force readiness

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or related field with 3 yrs occupational experience OR Education in related field combined with related occupational experience totaling 7 yrs
  • Located within a 2 hour drive of one of the following WTCS colleges : Western, Chippewa Valley, Gateway, Lakeshore, Mid-State, Moraine Park, Northcentral, Northwood, Waukesha County

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in education
  • Experience in technical or higher education setting
  • Experience with micro-credential development and DACUM facilitation
  • Experience with aligning external credentials or certifications with curriculum

This position reports to : Dean - Academic Excellence, Education and Human Services

Starting annual / hourly salary range based on education and experience : $55,299 - $72,331

This benefit eligible position has an end date of April 30, 2028.

This position would include competitive salary, along with a wide variety of benefits available to full-time Western Technical College Employees.
