Lead Failure Analysis Product Engineer

Please note that this is a 6-month contract opportunity

Make sure to apply with all the requested information, as laid out in the job overview below.

Are you able to grasp complex system level issues at a high level, and also enjoy diving deeply into the analysis of specific engineering challenges?

Do you enjoy working across disciplines, applying your engineering knowledge to understand and resolve manufacturing issues with a diverse engineering and business team?

Do you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? If so, we would like you to join our team as we continue our successful launches of exciting products.

Our team collaborates with hardware development and manufacturing teams early in the development cycle to identify and resolve design risks which may impede product launches.

Our engagement continues through engineering builds to characterize manufacturing defects and drive improvements in design, material, and process to maximize the initial launch yield.

As the product development lifecycle shifts to mass production, we own identifying and implementing improvements in manufacturing processes and repair methods in order to achieve manufacturing yield, volume, and cost metrics.

As a Failure Analysis Engineer, you will apply engineering theory, circuit analysis, and root cause analysis methods to isolate sources of failure, define experiments to validate theory of failure, identify and lead implementation of corrective actions with partner teams.

You will have the opportunity to mentor junior product engineers in failure analysis and manufacturing best practices. Regular travel to Asia will be required to accomplish critical objectives and guide contract manufacturing activities.

Those who are relentlessly curious, excellent communicators, and driven to continuously improve upon previous successes will excel within our team.

Detailed Description

Required Qualifications and Capabilities :

  • Understands fundamental concepts of PC, mobile phone, or similar complex electronics system design and operation, including the operation of related subsystems, interfaces, and components.
  • Applies engineering theory, statistical methods, circuit / signal / material analysis, and interpretation of manufacturing test logs and measurements to isolate contributing factors driving production defects.
  • Utilizes standard test equipment to characterize device, component, and material performance, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, microscopes, thermal imaging, gauges, calipers, etc.
  • Leverages robust Root Cause / Corrective Action and Quality Management Tools to guide actions, summarize findings, and achieve improvement results, including concepts of Six Sigma, 5C, 8D, and similar.
  • Self-manages daily and long-term activities to meet program objectives with minimal management guidance, including prioritizing activities and leading outcomes of junior engineers and a manufacturing partner engineering support team.
