Job Description
The Triage Nurse is a critical thinker responsible for providing compassionate patient-centered pediatric care, phone triage and care coordination.
- Provides compassionate patient-centered care, phone triage and care coordination.
- Follows Barton Schmitt triage protocols
- Assesses symptoms, severity and appropriately triage to home self-care, office or emergency care.
- Educates patients and parents about diagnosis, treatment and reasons for concern
- Coordinates patient's needs and identify resources.
- Provides emotional support to patients and parents.
- Completes paperwork and documentation necessary for rendered care
- Manages prescription refills adhering to office principles
- Assists clinical and front staff.
- Maintains knowledge with lab processes.
- Completes patient forms and write letters
Qualifications :
- RN or LPN, with current State of Michigan license free and clear of any sanctions, required
- BLS certification preferred
- Past experience with EPIC preferred
Competencies
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to consistently provide care appropriate for the age of the patient and the significance of their concern.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent information collection and documentation skills.
- Proficient with email, EMR, and general computer skills
- Must be kind, honest and reliable.
