Job Summary :
The Westchester Medical Center Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is seeking a Physiatrist with an interest in musculoskeletal and general rehabilitation to join our growing program.
This position is primarily musculoskeletal / general outpatient but includes coverage of a small general / orthopedic inpatient rehabilitation service.
WMC is a level one trauma center and major teaching affiliate of New York Medical College. The Department of PM&R has nine full-time physiatrists, an 18-bed acute inpatient rehabilitation unit, outpatient specialty practices, and a newly accredited 16-position four-year categorical residency training program.
NYMC medical students rotate on site for their required PM&R clerkship and for electives. Faculty maintain academic appointments within the School of Medicine.
The position will report directly to the Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Responsibilities :
- Develop an outpatient musculoskeletal / general outpatient practice focused on orthopedic, spine, and sports medicine care.
- Collaborate closely with the Department of Orthopedics and other major referral sources to build your clinical practice.
- Perform electrodiagnostic studies and supervise residents assigned to the combined PM&R / Neurology Electrodiagnosis Lab.
- Provide attending coverage and resident supervision for the 6-8 bed general / orthopedic inpatient rehabilitation service.
- Conduct teaching rounds, participate in the resident didactics program and journal clubs, and contribute to curriculum development.
- Supervise and teach 3
and 4
year medical students assigned to your service.
