Summary
Barry University is currently accepting applications for two Reference & Instruction Librarian full-time positions at the Main Campus.
Barry University’s Librarian helps distance education / online faculty and students navigate the Library’s online library resources and services.
Must be available to answer questions and assist faculty on how to best incorporate library research into their online courses.
This position requires participating in the daily, evening, and weekend reference rotations.
Essential Functions
Provide bibliographic instruction / information literacy instruction for Barry University students and faculty.
Create research guides (Libguides).
Create library tutorials specific to the needs of Barry University’s students.
Conduct reference & research chat sessions for online courses.
Actively participate in the Ask a Librarian rotation schedule.
Provide library assistance to you and your students through diverse medium (Canvas, chat room, IM, e-mail, phone, WebEx, or in-person).
In collaboration with faculty, design a research assignment framed around library resources.
Professional Development
Participate in continuing education, training, and professional development.
Participates in University, Division, and Library committees.
Participate in library-related developments in the library sector (e.g., local, state, national).
Other duties as assigned or as needed.
Qualifications / Requirements
A Master's degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library and Information Science is required.
Must have technical skills with MS Office applications and digital materials
Must be able to follow through with policies and procedures and be organized with process management.
Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
