Job Description :

Coordinates operational activities in a laboratory, providing support services to users. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and standards for lab operations to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality control of the laboratory and compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and standards.

Coordinates the ordering, inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, lab ware, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab.

The Engineering Department at Frostburg State University (FSU) seeks applications for a full-time exempt Academic Laboratory Manager.

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. University System of Maryland benefits package includes annual leave, holidays, personal, and sick leave;

Responsibilities : Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Maintenance and Repair : A lab technician is essential for ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally, thereby preventing disruptions to experiments and projects.

Safety Compliance : A lab technician plays a critical role in implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting safety inspections, and providing training on safe lab practices.

Equipment Calibration : A lab technician is responsible for calibrating equipment regularly to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.

Technical Support : A lab technician serves as a valuable resource for troubleshooting problems, providing guidance, and offering technical support as needed.

Inventory Management : Engineering labs maintain an inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment. A lab technician is responsible for inventory management, including ordering supplies, tracking usage, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.

Minimum Qualifications : An Associate's degree or technical certification in engineering technology or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications : A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology is preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
