Underwriting Manager

$100,000 - $115,000 base salary
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to oversee a niche Commercial Property program. This role will be pivotal in managing a team of 15 underwriters, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining high standards of underwriting excellence.
The ideal candidate is looking to be a valuable employee focusing on niche, high-risk programs.
Key Responsibilities :
- Supervise and mentor a team of underwriters, providing guidance on complex underwriting decisions and ensuring adherence to company policies and guidelines.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the underwriting team, including workload distribution, performance management, and training.
- Collaborate closely to develop and implement underwriting strategies that align with business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Handle escalated underwriting issues and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to enhance the program's reputation and profitability.
Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in underwriting with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
- Proven track record in commercial property underwriting or niche program underwriting.
- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license required.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing both in-house and remote teams.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
