Description

We are looking for an individual with experience working with young people and skills related to suicide prevention, mental health, substance use prevention, health promotion, youth development, community and public health, health equity or another relevant field.

This position requires excellent communication, problem solving, and active listening skills; initiative, creativity, and adaptability;

the ability to work independently and effectively in groups; strong relationship building skills; an understanding of the social determinants of health, the socioecological model, and a commitment to racial and health equity.

The ideal candidate will have the curiosity and ability to learn new things. Ongoing training and professional development opportunities are provided.

What You Will Be Doing to Make A Difference...

  • Coordinate all aspects of the youth suicide prevention project and associated activities.
  • Coordinate assessment, capacity building, strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation efforts with the support from the Program Director.
  • Attend Building Up Youth (BUY) Regional Collaborative meetings and work with the BUY Program Manager to integrate suicide prevention initiatives into the coalition.
  • Oversee the development, refinement and implementation of a strategic plan
  • Coordinator and facilitate chosen evidence-informed strategies in alignment with CLAS standards and with fidelity, this may include workshops, trainings, social norms marketing campaigns, and events.
  • Create and coordinate social media posts for the departments social media pages
  • Embed racial justice and health equity values and strategies into all programming and improve; deliver strategies that are trauma-informed, person-centered, identify-affirming, and recovery-oriented.
  • Build and maintain partnerships within the community and within the organization with a focus on youth, individuals with lived experience, immigrant populations, and those most impacted.
  • Facilitate meetings and engage youth, caregivers, community groups, and organizations to coordinate and implement strategies.
  • Become a certified trainer in selected evidence-informed programs and organize / provide trainings.
  • Attend meetings and community events to promote project initiatives.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with funders regarding program activities; Keep accurate records related to program requirements and complete quarterly reports for the Department of Public Health and other funding sources.
  • Monitor program progress, goals, and objectives
  • Assist Program Director with coordinating program budget, as needed
  • Proposal writing, as needed

Hours : 40hrs / week; mainly M-F 9-5pm with a few evenings / weekends per month / 1-2 days / week in the office, plus additional time will be spent in the community building relationships and providing trainings, events, etc.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and extensive relevant experience in a related field
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred, but not required
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Experience facilitating workshops / trainings / support groups and implementing evidence-informed programs / practices with fidelity and in alignment with culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) Standards
  • Ability to work with diverse communities, including with children and families of different races, ethnicities, ages, abilities and experiences
  • Relevant lived experience or experience working with youth and parents / caregivers
  • Experience promoting collaborations and partnerships within and / or across agencies and communities.
  • An understanding of the social determinants of health and a commitment to social justice, racial & health equity; an understanding of how racism is a public health issue
  • Experience with focus groups, survey design and other data collection methods (or the ability to learn)
  • Experience developing strategic plans, logic models and program action plans (or the ability to learn)
  • Comfort with technology
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, both in-person and virtually, and take personal initiative.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to take on several complex projects and manage them simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain records and to keep records and information in a confidential manner
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including attend occasional community meetings / events or provide trainings outside of regular business hours (Evenings or weekends)
  • Bi-lingual preferred
  • Resident of Quincy, Randolph or familiarity with those community preferred
  • Certified Prevention Specialist, in the process of becoming certified, or willing to work towards certification
  • Ability to travel outside Quincy for trainings and required meetings
  • Acceptable CORI and SORI background record check as required by program
