Job Title : Sr Accountant
Location : Joplin, MO
Reports To : Accounting Manager
Hours : Monday - Friday, 8AM-5PM
Pay : Starting at 65,000 / year depending on experience
Position Purpose
The Accountant will be responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the organization’s financial reporting.
This role will track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
- Analyze and reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts.
- Review, maintain, and request Certificates of Insurance.
- Investigate and resolve daily discrepancies between finished goods and pallet quantities.
- Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable general ledger to supporting subsidiary ledgers.
- Reconcile monthly sales reports to the general ledger.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Review monthly maintenance parts costs.
- Prepare monthly state and federal milk reports.
- Establish costs for milk PO purchases.
- Generate monthly intercompany reports.
- Reconcile monthly third-party billings for employee benefit premiums with the general ledger.
- Manage fixed asset accounting.
- Analyze clearing accounts and resolve errors.
- Maintain utility expense analysis.
- Generate monthly Operations reports.
- Perform banking duties as assigned.
- Prepare annual vendor and buyer ethics mailing.
- Conduct annual reviews of maintenance parts for obsolescence.
- Complete and file the annual State unclaimed property report.
- Assist outside auditors by gathering necessary account information and documents for the annual audit.
- Handle monthly rebate accruals and reconciliations.
- Stay up-to-date on acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- In-depth knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- A minimum of three years of relevant accounting experience is required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Pay Details : 65,000.00 to 73,000.00 per year
