Lyndale Neighborhood Association (LNA) is a place-based nonprofit that strives to empower neighbors to assume leadership roles in their own community, while also striving to diversify that leadership to allow for a better mixing and sharing of ideas and cultures.

Our main programs include 3 community garden sites, business facade revitalization grants, the LNA Education Program which provides high-quality in-person English language and digital literacy instruction, as well as several community engagement events and committees.

Position Summary :
The Communications Coordinator will partner with the association’s Executive Director (ED) to define the priorities related to LNA’s public-facing messaging, and its approach to how these messages reach their intended audience.
These priorities should be reflected in the annual communications calendar, ongoing communication execution, and in how other association staff support the association’s overall communication priorities.
Core accountabilities include managing the association’s online presence across diverse media platforms, being the point person for media relations, maintaining current and engaging information on all LNA websites, developing and executing promotional plans and advertising collateral for key events and initiatives, and monitoring our reach and performance to measure our communication’s impact.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities :
Communications Planning, Execution & Evaluation
Partner with ED on setting priorities related to communication messaging, mediums, and tools
Oversee creation of annual communications calendar; engage other staff as appropriate
Devise marketing and promotional plans for events, programs, and initiatives
Maintain relevant and timely information that reflects LNA’s work across all digital platforms
Lead and oversee graphic design for events, programs, and key initiatives that reflect LNA aesthetic goals
Create and implement social media outreach and updates
Design flyers, postcards and meeting posters as needed
Assist with LNA engagement-related events and community initiatives including attending monthly engagement committee meetings
Develop and monitor quantitative and qualitative metrics that inform reach and impact of communications
Communications Systems Management
Weekly website maintenance, annually assess website functionality and user experience
Develop and send weekly E-news, maintain email list
Develop organizational branding and style guidelines
Maintain organization public and staff calendar and space booking
Oversee bi-annual newsletter design
Create layout of annual direct mail letter
Create and coordinate content in collaboration with LNA staff for use across various communication channels
Bi-lingual Spanish and English content creation
Media relations duties as needed, including assisting with media prep, speaking with reporters and pitching articles
Other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience developing and executing against marketing and communication plans
Experience utilizing a third-party website development platform for an institution
Experience leading a range of graphic design projects for digital and print vehicles
Experience providing marketing and communications support to coworkers and volunteers
Experience working with people of diverse cultural backgrounds, lifestyle and socio-economic standing
Copywriting for campaigns inclusive of; social media, websites blogs, emails and press releases
Ability to think strategically, creatively, and proactively around how to address opportunities and challenges
Proficient and self-directed at managing work plans, priorities, time, and resources to advance accountabilities
Proficient in the following platforms :
Social media platforms including; Meta - Facebook & Instagram
WordPress website
Google Workspace
Constant Contact
Canva
MS Office
Indesign newsletter layout (optional, depending on experience)
Spanish or Somali language proficiency strongly preferred
Physical Requirements :
Able to remain in a stationary position for at least 2 hours at a time
Able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office and computer equipment and greet neighbors
Work Environment :
The majority of work completed at LNA will be at LNA’s office and include regular interactions with individuals receiving services, volunteers, donors and other community members.
It is expected that each of these interactions is done with the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality as required in the parameters of those relationships.
These interactions may occur in person, on the phone, via e-mail or through the use of social media.
May work outside of the office within the community in places such as the YMCA, apartment buildings, churches, schools, and community centers.
Will be required to interact with community members and may require small amounts of public speaking, being photographed for media use as well as appropriate use of social media as a marketing tool.
May include activities outside.
May occasionally walk on slippery or uneven surfaces.
May climb ladders.
