Description :
The Senior Electrical Estimator provides cost estimate support for industrial electrical projects under the direct supervision of the Estimating Manager.
This role involves generating and managing estimates for new bids, pre-bidding processes, and ongoing projects to ensure budget control across all scopes, systems, and assemblies.
Estimates range from conceptual to full guarantee maximum price estimates to lump sum bids.
Responsibilities :
- Attend Pre-Bid Meetings
- Perform thorough reviews of Project Specifications, Scope of Work, and Drawings
- Organize Bid Documents in a professional manner
- Maintain an accurate listing of estimates and due dates
- Formulate and clarify questions during the bid process to minimize assumptions
- Develop lists of clarifications and exclusions for project proposals
- Obtain competitive pricing on materials for estimates
- Develop estimates and takeoffs to facilitate easy transfer into purchase orders at award
- Maintain an updated database of unit rates for estimating
- Develop relationships with key electrical suppliers to foster a competitive bid environment
- Support the creation of a "Buy Out" project materials listing post-award
- Assist the on-site Supervisor with RFI submissions and resolve design / installation conflicts
- Develop project change request estimates
- Prepare estimate presentations, special studies, budget control reports, and estimating documents for client presentations
- Understand market labor and commodity conditions and their impact on construction costs
Qualifications :
- Strong working knowledge of construction projects (Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial), construction methods, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Experience in pre-construction and estimating on commercial / industrial construction projects preferred
- Ability to estimate all aspects of an industrial construction project, assemble into one budget, and present to owners
- Strong construction computer software skills, including construction estimating software, scheduling, bid management, online plan rooms, and database applications
- Must be able to view projects from a construction business owner’s perspective and present accordingly

Physical Profile Requirements :
- The job is generally performed in a clean and healthy environment with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and / or pulling up to 20 pounds
- Some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and / or crawling may be required
- Significant fine finger and motor dexterity are needed
- The role routinely uses standard office equipment and requires the ability to transport necessary equipment and supplies
- A current driver’s license and the ability to travel to various locations as needed
