Assess, diagnose, and treat mental and emotional problems and the behavioral dysfunctions resulting from, or related to physical and mental health;
promote healthy behavior, preventing diseases and improving patients’ quality of life.
Duties include but are not limited to :
- Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other persons
- Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders
- Treats patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications
- Assures quality and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations requirements, and legal regulations
- Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities
- Educate staff on best practices in the management of co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders
- Propose, develop, and implement best practices in psychiatric care delivery under the direction of the Medical Director
- Propose, develop, and implement improvements in the process of psychiatric care delivery under the direction of the Medical Director
- Determine the best functional capacity outcome
- Determine employability with or without limitations
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED
- CPR Certification
- Work requires a Doctorate of Psychology, with emphasis in clinical and professional licensure in Iowa with three years of experience in a health care setting or social agency. Benefits :
